THE RUNNING OF CLUB COMPETITIONS

The men’s section will have received a communication from Steve Yemm about the medal taking place on 25th July.  A number of changes have had to be made:

1. There will be no sign up sheets for competitions put on the notice board. Instead we will be using the electronic entry system on How Did I Do. Hopefully many of you will have signed up to this already to check your handicap, playing results and best scores on each hole. If you have difficulty accessing the system please contact Steve Yemm for assistance.

2. In view of the risk of infection with the handling of cash we will not have an entry fee for this competition. The committee will keep this under constant review as guidance in a number of areas seems to be changing. As we will not have the money from the entry fee we will only give one medal prize to the overall winner. Just to make clear this is the overall winner not the winner of each division.

3.  The recording of scores. One person in each group will be responsible for the scorecard and ensuring that each score is checked after every hole. Remember the scorer also has to know what the other player says is their score is correct and the other players need to check what the scorer says is his score is correct. This aspect has not changed but players often get that wrapped up in their own game they forget their others duties and responsibilities in competitions. The scorer is the only one to sign the card to say all is correct at the end of the round. There will be a starter in the hut for the medal and they will give instructions as to where to place the card at the end of the round.

Before the medal takes place we will check that all those that have entered have paid their CLUB subscriptions. If your subscription hasn't been paid you will be taken out of the draw. You can see below how to pay it if you have yet to do so.

It is intended that medals from August onwards will run on the published calendar dates, which you can also find on the calendars on the website. However a number of competitions have had to be cancelled because they were in the lockdown period e.g Founders, Spring Foursomes etc.  In addition we will NOT run Midweek medals during the current situation. However, we propose to run the 9 hole qualifier from the 29th July but would want this to be used for only those that cannot play 18 holes for the time being.

Finally please remember to follow the Play Safe guidance and when your round has finished to leave the course promptly.

Best wishes to you all,

Bob Perry

Club Secretary

RODWAY HILL GOLF CLUB - CODE OF CONDUCT

Rodway Hill Golf Club is committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination, harassment and intimidation for members and employees.

Members are advised that an acceptable standard of behaviour is expected in all areas of the Club and Course at all times and that upon payment of membership, all members give their consent to be bound by both the restrictions and penalties which may be imposed, for any breach of the Club’s standards, or serious misconduct, in failing to meet the standards set in this Code of Conduct.

This Code of Conduct has been set by the Committee and adopted as a Permanent Local Rule, as permitted by Rule 1.2b of the Rules of Golf.

ON THE COURSE

All golfers must:

Avoid slow play and apply the principles of Ready Golf by:

  • maintaining the pace of play by keeping up with the group in front. Your place is behind the group in front of you and not ahead of the group behind you.
  • waving through the following group when delayed by for example searching for balls

Adhere to the Rules of Golf, Local Rules and the General and Specific Terms of Competition.

Care for the Course by repairing pitch marks, replacing divots and raking bunkers.

Show respect towards their fellow golfers by not being aggressive, abusive, noisy or misusing equipment, show respect towards employees and officials and be aware that greens staff have priority.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Members must be aware that:

Any form of discrimination, harassment or intimidation is regarded as unacceptable behaviour.

The use of foul or abusive language has no place in the clubhouse.

Smoking or the use of e-cigarettes is not permitted within the Club buildings.

Whilst acknowledging that adult “banter” contributes towards creating a healthy atmosphere among members, care should be taken as some members may find it offensive or intimidating.

GENERAL

This Code of Conduct is not intended to create a bureaucratic, regulatory environment, but rather to promote and enhance the values of the Club.

Any member engaging in any behaviour that may be detrimental to the game of golf or Rodway Hill Golf Club, is in breach of the Code of Conduct and should be reported to the Committee. Any reported transgressions shall be scrutinised by the Disciplinary Committee, who may take appropriate disciplinary action.

Club Committee, January 2020.
